DESCRIPTION:The IYSSE will be presenting the case of Bogdan Syrotiuk to stu
 dents and workers.\n\nOn August 10, 2026, a Ukrainian court sentenced 27-y
 ear-old socialist Bogdan Syrotiuk to 15 years in prison on charges of "sta
 te treason." His crime? Opposing war. Bogdan, a leader of the Young Guard 
 of Bolshevik-Leninists, is being punished not for any act but for his idea
 s — for the "thoughtcrime" of calling on Russian and Ukrainian workers t
 o unite against both Putin's invasion and the US-NATO proxy war.\n\nBogdan
  has committed no crime. He was made a criminal because he refused to supp
 ort the Zelensky regime's fascistic war drive or the imperialist powers ar
 ming it. The state entered his World Socialist Web Site articles as eviden
 ce, condemned his organization's books to destruction, and stripped him of
  his property. A forensic linguistic analysis by one of Ukraine's leading 
 criminologists found the "treason" charges baseless.\n\nBogdan's convictio
 n is an attack on every young person who opposes imperialist war. The same
  Labor government pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into the Zelensk
 y regime's war machine has passed "hate crime" and anti-protest laws to cr
 iminalise opposition to Israel's genocide in Gaza — banning slogans and 
 arresting activists here in Australia. \n\nThe working class has no stake 
 in this war. Our fight is for the international unity of the working class

DESCRIPTION:We insist that all the great problems confronting humanity in t
 he 21st century—war, poverty, climate change, police brutality and socia
 l inequality, the drive toward fascism and dictatorship by governments int
 ernationally—are the outcome of capitalism, and can only be addressed th
 rough the taking of political power by the working class and its establish
 ment of a socialist society, founded on genuine equality.\n\nThe Internati
 onal Youth and Students for Social Equality is the student and youth movem
 ent of the Socialist Equality Parties. Part of the International Committee
  of the Fourth International, the World Party of Socialist Revolution foun
 ded by Leon Trotsky in 1938. Its aim is to unite the international working
  class, on the basis of a socialist and internationalist program, to put a
 n end to the capitalist system and establish socialism on a world scale.\n
 \nSociety must be reorganized along international socialist lines—on the
  basis of social need, not private profit. The IYSSE fights to unify stude
 nts, youth and the working class around the world in a common struggle for
  socialism.\n\nWe hold these weekly meetings where all are welcome to part
 ake and join in the discussion and learn about how they can get involved.\
